Teaching & Coaching
Julia Marie Peterson is a multidisciplinary acting coach, director, and certified Alexander Technique teacher who works at the intersection of craft, care, and clarity. A graduate of NYU Tisch (CAP-21, Strasberg), LAMDA, and The Philadelphia School for the Alexander Technique, she brings over a decade of experience helping actors move with precision, speak with purpose, and live truthfully under imaginary circumstances.
She has coached principal cast for film, television, and theatre—supporting performers from preparation through performance—and has worked both on set and in rehearsal rooms Off-Broadway. Julia has taught at NYU (in association with the Tisch School of the Arts and the Langone Medical Center), the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, Denise Simon Acting & Coaching, and OnTheRoad Repertory Company (OTR). She is a company member and board member of OTR, where she has directed and produced multiple productions, continuing the artistic legacy of her mentor, Alice Spivak.
Her students have appeared on Broadway, in award-winning films, and in acclaimed television productions. Julia’s teaching blends Stanislavski, Strasberg, Uta Hagen, Michael Chekhov, Meisner, Laban, and the Alexander Technique to help actors unlock their voice, deepen their choices, and fully embody the emotional life of the role. Her coaching is grounded in attunement—helping actors arrive in the present moment with readiness, intention, and full-bodied presence.
